I think that the Nancy Island in Wasaga Beach should be in the tourism file.
I totally disagree with moving Wasaga Beach Provincial Park from the environmental file. The Park has long served the public coming and enjoying the parks, shade from the TREES and swimming in the lake. Tourism has benefitted from this for decades as my family has had a cottage property since 1925 in Wasaga Beach. I live in the that cottage today and enjoy the Town now. I understand upgrading the "main drag" as I call it--Beach 1 area. I disagree with taking over Beach 1 and 2 with housing etc. so benefit the town only. The Wasaga Beach Provincial Park is a beautiful place to enjoy friends and family and the water and picnics in all the parks. People come from Toronto and other cities to enjoy a summer's day and if you take it out of the environmental file, you run the risk of ruining the Beach for tourists. Plus what is to say that the Ford Government starts doing it to all parks in Ontario.
Parks are about spaces for people to enjoy!! Trees help people breathe by taking in carbon dioxide--they collect a lot of carbon.!! If you take down the trees, you risk shifting the sand and ground that was held together with the tree roots. Just look at the erosion that happened in 2020 when the water came in and destroyed people's property. Please DO NOT move the Wasaga Beach Provincial Park out of the environment file. We need to protect all environment everywhere--plants, people and animals need to to co-exist together for the benefit and beauty of the world.
