Please do not remove Beach Areas 1, 2, New Wasaga, Allenwood Beach, and Nancy Island of Wasaga Beach Provincial Park from protection under the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act, 2006. In addition, please do not move forward with the amendments to the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act, 2006, and the Historical Parks Act. Removing these areas of Wasaga Beach Provincial Park threatens the last best Piping Plover nesting grounds in Ontario with development. It also threatens Wasaga Beach's tourism as the park is already one of the most popular in Ontario and does not need to be disturbed. It can also threaten the town of Wasaga, because if the mature sand dunes are disturbed the town will be subject to flooding and waves that the dunes would otherwise buffer. In addition, these amendments to the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act, 2006, and the Historical Parks Act also make it possible to remove larger areas of other Provincial Parks from protection. These parks are our natural heritage, they deserve and require protection. Thank you.
