I support climbing in Provincial parks! I’m 62 and started climbing at 47 indoors. I started outdoor climbing just before I turned 50 and never looked back. Outdoors is so much more challenging and beautiful. All the climbers I know are respectful and inclusive. Look at the Turtle model where the owners set up rules and limitations and other than a couple of bad apples, it’s been a fabulous relationship. Climbers clean up after themselves, and pick up other’s garbage (usually lazy hikers who just came to see the leaves). I’ve climbed a half dozen times at Devil’s Glen and it’s a very important part of the Niagara Falls escarpment.
Please PASS this bill so climbers can enjoy Provincial parks like Devi’s Glen, and if possible, open up climbing in other parks. People drive for hours to enjoy our escarpment and more money into Ontario and our parks is a good thing.
At 62, I need to stay in shape and climbing has changed my life. I’m a better climber than half of my younger friends and plan to keep climbing for years.
