Dr. Gale Fraser's comments and opinions that were quoted in the Globe and Mail article of Dec. 15, 2018 regarding scientific studies, and Ange Brooks' references (Toronto Ornithological Club) to other options for population control of the double-crested cormorants are those that I support. I do not favour a licensed season for this species.
An early study of cormorants in Nova Scotia by G. Randy Milton (citation below) indicated concerns about the ecological and environmental impact of population control by game hunting.
