Species of all kinds often go through periods where they decline in numbers. There is no one factor or cause that can cause any one species or type of fish decline in numbers. The environment and world we live in has been suffering for decades, due to pollution, over fishing, pesticides, contaminants and various other factors, our wildlife has suffered and will continue to suffer. To say that our Cormorants are the basis of fish or environmental decline, is looking at this problem with tunnel vision. Problems within our eco-system are multi-faceted and are rarely solved when we put another species at risk. When we place another species at risk, our eco-system will continue to suffer. There must be another way to engage with individuals in conversation to solve the supposed issues caused by Cormorants. In my opinion, there is never just one cause to a problem, we must look at ways of helping our diverse species in Canada without the necessary aim of killing. Cormorants like other species, are sentient beings, they feel and hurt when they die. Surely, there must be other ways of solving this problem.
