To whom it may concern,
I am a resident and property owner in Toronto, a working professional, mother of two kids. I am writing to express my frustration with the provincial government consistently trying to micromanage how people live in the cities across Ontario.
Bill 212 tried to strip existing bike lanes and Bill 60 is prohibiting them all together? And any possible transportation improvements that can result in lane reductions?
With Toronto being the 5th largest city in North America I demand that province prioritises all the other modes of transportation over cars. There are just too many of them because province keeps making it harder to get around without a car.
I live on a quiet side street and amount of traffic since return to the office mandate increased substantially. This is because people have no choice other than driving!!! Province is in the way of building proper transportation in Toronto: dedicated streetcar and bus lanes, bike lanes, traffic calming measures, pedestrian streets- all of the things typical for large cities would be impossible if Bill 60 passes.
This year I had to work with city to close my street for Halloween because drivers keep trying to run over kids trick or treating! But on Jane and Finch one girl died. She was killed by a car. As a taxpayer ( and I pay a lot of taxes) I demand that province stops prioritizing cars over lives our kids.
I don't own a car and bike everyday and everywhere in the city. If more people would be like me those who have to drive to a living will be able to get around much faster.
