Bike lanes are really important. I've been cycling as my primary mode of transportation within the city for years. That has kept me out of my car and reduced the number of cars on the road. As my son is now old enough to start biking on his own, it's really important to me that he be able to do so safely. Even cars that are used to watching for bikes are not used to looking for smaller bikes with children on them. Bike lanes are critically important.

Which isn't to say that every road should have bike lanes, but municipalities should have the ability to reduce bike lanes where it's appropriate and where it would serve the public good. A blanket ban just doesn't make sense.

Many of the people have cars but don't use them that much because they can bike and take transit. We have a liveable city. Please don't reverse that and put them back into their cars, thereby increasing gridlock.
