Given the highly integrated and interconnected nature of Peel's water and wastewater infrastructure, I think it would be inefficient and unwise to separate such services into individual municipal level entities. This will create three redundant municipal departments and will most likely lead to service decline giving residents the run around as to whom is responsible when water problems arise (especially in areas in and around municipal boundaries). This also raises drinking water concerns for Brampton residents as their water is obtained from a source within Mississauga, creating potential friction around cost and responsibility of such infrastructure instead of the current regional agreements. This also leaves Caledon in an unfair position as both Mississauga and Brampton have greatly benefited from the regional agreements of water and wastewater infrastructure when it comes to services and overall development while Caledon has only recently begun their own development era in the past couple decades. This whole issue of Peel regional governance and services has largely been driven by Mississauga politicians like Hazel MacCallion and Bonnie Crombie as opposed to the residents themselves and thus seems to overlook the beneficial value to all Peel residents such amalgamated services have brought over the past 50-years.
