I will be letting everyone and the brothers know about this bill trying to be passed. Coming from countries that do this and the amount of money it will cost the residents is absolutely ridiculous. When pop, juice and wine are cheaper then water you have made the wrong choice. Lire davantage

While I have read many references to how MSCs 'may' reduce costs for municipalities and property owners, I have yet to see any actual evidence. In fact, isn't most research indicating that, for Peel Region at least, creating a new corporation would A. Cause unnecessary work and confusion, and B. Lire davantage

Given the tragic history of the Walkerton water contamination event in 2000 — which resulted in multiple deaths and thousands of illnesses — the proposed transfer of water and wastewater jurisdiction and creation of a new public corporation must be accompanied by rigorous safeguards. Privatizing water purification and distribution makes no sense, and is a bad idea for the consumer. Ontarians (and Peel residents) trust municipalities to run their water purification services, and no one wants their water quality to be sacrificed on the altar of shareholder value. Lire davantage

I want to be able to have an accountable source for water disruptions. A public entity controlling the resources will allow me to have that in the case of catastrophe. Private companies won’t (looking at the tar sands and the mess they left for public dollars to clean). Lire davantage

I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed legislative and regulatory changes under the Fighting Delays, Building Faster Act, 2025, specifically those concerning the transfer of water and wastewater jurisdiction from the Region of Peel to the lower-tier municipalities of Mississaug Lire davantage

The proposal states that the first corporation would be owned by the three municipalities. Is it true however, that shares could then be bought by outside parties whose sole interest is profit? Lire davantage

The Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing recently stated, “Our government is building a more prosperous, resilient and competitive economy by fighting costly delays and regulatory burdens that slow the delivery of homes, roads and infrastructure that communities need.” Lire davantage

Absolutely no good has EVER come from releasing any public resources or necessary services to corporations. Have you learned nothing from previous scandals and profiteering? Are we not already suffering enough from corporate greed? Lire davantage

A new Act is proposed which would allow the Minister to designate a corporation as a water and wastewater public corporation which would provide water and sewage services on behalf of lower tier municipalities. The Act would allow such a corporation to assume ownership and operation of water and sew Lire davantage

I understand the need to reduce/remove grid locks. I'm not sure I understand how transferring the jurisdiction of currently shared amenities to lower tier municipalities will achieve that. And would that public corporation be the equivalent of what Peel Region W/WW division is? Lire davantage

Ontarians deserve water services that stay public, affordable, transparent, and free from private or political influence. Transferring control to a corporate structure threatens public trust, affordability, and environmental protection for future generations.

I strongly oppose the proposed legislation to privatize Ontario’s water supply. As an Ontario resident for over 40 years, I remember the Walkerton tragedy, and if this is allowed to proceed, the same will happen again and people will die. This is not hyperbolic. Lire davantage

Water is a right, do not do what you did with hydro as soon as you let corporations in it all becomes more expensive and quality goes down, look what happened in Collingwood when testing went privatized. As soon as you allowed something like this with hydro we are now being price gouged. Lire davantage

Since the Privatization of Hydro in Ontario, rates have increased faster than inflation. And the Ontario government is forced to subsidize those rising rates using tax dollars that could have beeb put towards healthcare, education, social services, and infrastructure. Lire davantage
