I’m tired of bills, like Bill 60, being pushed on the public by the provincial government without consent and minimizing opportunities for real democratic debate and opposition.
Bill 60 is an escalation of Bill 212’s attack on evidence based decision making that would prohibit any municipality in Ontario from reducing motor vehicle lanes to build new bike lanes. Like, that makes no sense and seems like a targeted attack on cyclists. We’re here and we’re not going anywhere!
Planned cycling projects like Parkside Drive, Dupont Street, and the Danforth Avenue extension won't be possible if Bill 60 becomes law. This is a safety issue.
And the wording is so broad that it could block bus priority lanes, patios and cafes, school streets, and other street improvements that rely on reallocating space from cars to people. So this is also an accessibility issue. No to Bill 60! Thank you.
