I agree that Ontario should consolidate conservation authorities into larger organizations with wider geographic scope.

In our community on the shoreline of Lake Huron, the conservation authority has caused unnecessary panic among property owners by sending letters to owners indicating their properties were unsafe to occupy.

The authority also appears to be biased towards local special interest groups and not as interested in the needs and rights of property owners.

Having met with our local authority on multiple occasions it is clear they are well intentioned but rely on expensive consultants and may be lacking a depth of expertise and skills that a larger organization could have internally.

A larger, centralized organization could bring a more consistent, cost-effective and reasonable approach to issues.
