I see that this bill received Royal Assent on Nov. 27, after being put forward on Nov. 6 and having had debate adjourned. Yet, I read in the comments above that the Province is interested in receiving feedback from the people about this massive reorganization of Ontario's conservation authorities.
I would like to know why debate was deferred and Royal Assent received when this bill is supposedly still open for public comment until December 22. This action certainly seems to suggest that the public input process is not included in the formulation of the ultimate bill. Also, the very rapid progress of the bill precludes a fulsome dialogue among interested parties.
The government should encourage and incorporate discussion and public input into the formulation of this bill, including a fulsome discussion of the pros and cons of amalgamating the 36 conservation authorities. Avoiding debate and taking the Bill to Royal Assent while the public commentary is still open does not achieve this goal
