The current suggestion of amalgamating 7 Conservation Authorities into 1 called the Huron Superior Regional CA including, Grey Sauble CA, the watershed in which I live and volunteer for will in no way, that I can see, benefit the land, the water or the people of these areas. The entire purpose of having local Conservation Authority offices originally was to have local people overseeing the actions of their peers at a local level and local people who could know and read the land and the rivers and know what to expect. Our current permitting times are below the average set in legislation. If these times are not fast enough then you need to lower the standard not change the whole permitting system. At most I can see the logistics of amalgamating Grey Sauble and Saugeen Valley but any further afield and it is no longer doable or meaningful work that the technicians would be considering in a 'local' level. I have been volunteering at Grey Sauble for 25 years now in the planting and maintenance of the arboretum surrounding the Grey Sauble admin Centre. I can see little of the inefficiencies mentioned.and so can see only that little good will come of a massive overall to a regionalism.
Please listen to the masses and rethink the amalgamation.
