I live in a small community in eastern Ontario, having moved out of Toronto 14 years ago. Even in that time, our area has changed from rural to ex-urban, as more and more retirees from Toronto and elsewhere buy land and build homes - to escape high prices and to live at a saner and safer pace. Development under Bill 66 threatens my new life and I strongly oppose it.
Since moving here, I have come to respect and value the farmers who are feeding us all. Preserving their livelihoods, and preserving our natural greenspace is not about red tape!!!! It is about our protecting the agricultural industry (would be even better to encourage and incentivize these farmers!) and it is also about protecting our planet and our lives. Climate change is real, dangerous, and it is upon us. If we don't put climate change mitigation at the heart of all our policies, our economy and our lives will be ruined.
