Please stop and drop Bill 66 Schedule 10.
It will allow developers to circumvent the Clean Water Act, the Greenbelt Act, the Great Lakes Protection Act, the Lake Simcoe Protection Act, the Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Act, the Places to Grow Act, and municipal Official Plans.
Schedule 10 is a proposed solution to a non-existing problem. These Acts do not slow down development applications unduly. They simply mitigate undesirable impacts on wetlands, forests, green spaces, streams, rivers, lakes—and our drinking water—in the interest of biodiversity – all of which are slowly being lost and which Schedule 10 would accelerate.
I am strongly opposed to giving municipalities these expanded options, which greatly increases the potential for their misuse. Once lost, our natural heritage can never be recovered.
I will be rallying as much support as possible to stop this bill from being passed and if the government decides to proceed you can look for me in the protesters that will be flooding the grounds of the legislature.
