It is with profound concern that we learned of your proposed changes to processes that are in place for municipalities. We understand your identifying the need to reduce red tape which on the surface is a great ideal. However specifically with regards to building in our environmental areas, and the protections that exist for our green belt and our watersheds, we strongly express our disagreement with Bill 66. There are reasons that those that are learned in environmental protections are so strongly opposed to this bill because it has the potential to destroy forever our lakes, rivers, streams, farmland and natural spaces. I’ll gladly have our municipalities have to check a few more boxes at my expense to protect these areas. As a water well driller in Ontario, our livelihood relies on protecting our environment. We have to follow very specific guidelines in all of our work to protect drinking water and watersheds. If we have to follow the procedures, then so should our municipalities. Please revisit this Bill and correct the glaring dangers in contains.
