1)The Township has concerns of funding availability in order to meet these new guidelines and regulations as monies taken from the Township are potential monies not available to improve and/or replace infrastructure and assets. The new requirements would potentially add 4-5%+ in tax increase to the taxpayers.
2)The complexity of the requirements requiring consultants results in a higher cost than internal staff.
3)The increased costs of having Engineers sign off on the asset mgmt. plan and why would an Engineer sign off on a plan if they may already be involved in condition ratings etc
4) For a small rural municipality with a small staff complement we are looking at over $220,000 minimum to meet the new requirements not including any future costs of maintaining or meeting new requirements.
