If we must continue with nuclear energy as frightening as this policy is, please work toward realistic preparation for an accident such as that on the scale of Fukushima. To continue on this road to energy production is a "heads in the sand" direction. No one believed that an accident like that could happen but it did. We need to be aware of international norms and understand that an evacuation of a city like Toronto is a massive and terrifying undertaking. How will this be implemented? How is it possible to get the necessary dose of stable iodine to the residents within 100km of an accident? How will drinking water be protected in such an emergency?
I would be better impressed if a policy of research and development of solar power was the heart of this government's energy policy. Thank you
