As a resident of Ontario, I strongly object to the concept and practice of baiting bears -to make it easier to kill them- of any kind. It is weak, lazy, cowardice, shows no knowledge, no skills or need to actually hunt bears. Baiting creates danger zones that affect many other users of these areas, as well as other animals in a negative, life threatening way.

This means the changes to the current law to expand the despicable practice of baiting to be closer to where other people and animals are is totally unacceptable to all Ontarians.

The wilderness areas of Ontario are used and enjoyed by many people engaged in harmless activities like hiking, photography, water sports,
camping, or even owning cottages or cabins. Their safety being in or near, these proposed baiting areas is a nonnegotiable priority. MAKING HUNTING EASIER, IS NOT A PRIORITY OVER EVERYONE'S SAFETY.

The bears are not dangerous, but being near where bear hunting and baiting happens, is dangerous. The allowing of high power rifles to be used to hunt, that according to gun manufacturers have a danger zone of 4KMs or more, puts even more people at risk.

While you are considering bear hunting, why not make it better for all people of Ontario and ban bear hunting completely. This, instead of listening to special interest groups who lack compassion for animals, safety considerations for others or even common sense to understand the ecosystem. It is 2019, time to update the laws to today's social standards of humane and compassion treatment of animals, wild or domestic.

These hunters already think Spring hunting is good and the collateral deaths of mother bears and cubs is acceptable. It is never their fault because the Ontario government says its ok to hunt at that time.
