Thank you for this opportunity to comment on this proposal. As a fifth-generation cottager I have seen first-hand the many benefits of having cottages in Rondeau. We are devoted stewards of the environment. We are active volunteers in the community. And we generate substantial economic benefit to the surrounding area, especially in south Chatham-Kent, which has faced significant economic challenges over the last two decades.
Therefore, our household supports the three-year extension as listed in proposal 019-0907. We believe this extension should apply immediately to all current leaseholders. I believe this interim measure should allow cottagers and the MOE to reach a permanent solution. We support a permanent solution that allows for our cottage community to remain in Rondeau in perpetuity. Ideally, if a permanent solution is reached by the cottagers and MOE before the three-year interim agreement is finished, we whole-heartedly support the permanent arrangement being implemented immediately.
