For Consideration.
I emphatically support the proposed three-year lease extension for all existing cottage leased lots in Rondeau Provincial Park, as described in ERO Policy Proposal 019-0907.
This new lease extension should be granted automatically to all existing leaseholders. This three year time period should be used to reach a permanent solution that will ensure the cottage community remains forever within Rondeau Park. When a permanent solution is reached prior to the three-year deadline, I support it being implemented as soon as possible.
Rondeau Park's founding charter included the presence of cottages.
The Rondeau cottage community has co-existed within the Park's ecosystem for over a century. Members of Rondeau's cottage community share an equal sense of stewardship and responsibility for preserving its unique environmental, historic and cultural treasures as any other Friend of Rondeau.
Rondeau has proven to be a model of how a Provincial Park of national significance can thrive, while balancing conservation, preservation and recreation.
