I strongly believe that we should be doing everything possible to plant and grow our forests substantially every year. Any forestry plan needs to include a costed, funded, and implementable plan to put more trees in annually than we take out. Ultimately, the economy is nothing when the planet is failing. Ontario already stands to suffer one of the greatest impacts from climate change (Toronto, specifically, in the top five places on the planet to experience the greatest climate shifts). It makes sense that we actively, proactively, aggressively take steps to counteract climate change by planting trees and making sure we use our renewable resources responsibly. Bottom line: plant more than you cut. Foster strong, healthy ecosystems and strong, growing forests. No matter how well you think this strategy is addressing this concern, I promise you, it's not nearly enough. We need to do more. We need to do better.
