I own 100 acres last logger by the Krugg bothers over 70 years ago. Together with my neighbours there is a 400 acres of diverse forrest that is gaining maturity and a sanctuary for wildlife. All this to be passed on to the next generation. We have a neighbour who we need to fence and gate as told to us by the insurance companies to protect us from trespassers being hurt on our properties. Unfortunately this neighbour is the local conservation authority who has no intention of policing their land from people disobeying posted signs.
I applaud new rules to protect agriculture lands, but forests are under assault from ATV’s whom I fear will cause forest fires during a dry summer. Police have little local support now to stop ATV’s on roads who go wherever there is no gates or fences.
Conclusion: Fines need to increase and landowners need to have power to charge trespassers. The police seem to have little control of people racing on our roads…what about the off road vehicles and the attitude I have to endure.
