Manse Road, both sides lined with townhouse developments, single homes, a K-8 school and a recreation complex, is just to the left (west) of the photograph submitted for Figure 1. A little further to the west of Manse is a well-developed, long standing neighbourhood of thousands of homes and another school. Manse Road is less than a 5 minute walk from the “subject site”. The thousands of people living on Manse Road alone will be subjected 24/7 to the noises of truck maneuvering, loading/unloading operations, exhaust stacks, rooftop heat/cool units, ventilation fans, mixing motors, blowers, a pump and a compressor. At night, we already hear the trains on the track further south and stunt drivers pulling wheelies on Coronation Drive. Hundreds of trucks going to and from already existing industries in the Coronation Drive area bounce and bang along the road all day. The noise they make as they pass over the many sunken manhole covers on this road is considerable. Because the new plant will operate 24/7, hundreds more trucks will be running north and south, all day and night, on Manse Road. Manse Road, itself, which, alone, already serves hundreds of townhouse units and dozens of single home units is also an alternative route for travel in and out of the city by people avoiding Kingston Road and Lawrence Road on their way to and from Highway 401. On weekends, the Heron Park Recreation Centre parking lot is full and Manse Road is lined, both sides with vehicles. My main concern, at this point, is twofold: the additional noise of the trucks travelling Manse 24/7 and maneuvering on Coronation Drive 24/7, and, the reduced safety of children living in the area as they go to the school and use the recreation centre.
