Thank you very kindly for the opportunity to comment. I believe that hydrogen represents an essential opportunity to decarbonize Ontario's economy--providing that that the production of hydrogen is itself low-carbon.

It is crucial that there be options to start immediately. In that regard there is one Ontario-headquartered hydrogen-based technology that is commercialized and poised to dramatically reduce carbon emissions in the Ontario transportation sector, mining and agriculture. That is DynaCERT--a Toronto company. Its Hydragen unit reduces greenhouse gas emissions more than 50% in diesel engines, including transport trucks. NOx, the most potent greenhouse gas in diesel emissions, is reduced by 88%. Further, the unit pays for itself in less than one year. Adopting this technology would dramatically increase Ontario's (and Canada's) ability to honour its Paris Accord commitments--at costs that are easily recouped.

In my opinion, what is needed is decisive, immediate Ontario government action to require--whether through regulation or through powerful incentives--that operators adopt this technology. It is effective and available NOW. This needs to be part of a menu of solutions, many of which, in my opinion, should involve hydrogen. This also creates lots of jobs. My big concern is that businesses and governments seem to be embracing seemingly fantastic but technologically questionable solutions that are many years away from realization--which has the effect of avoiding action now. We must act now, and Dynacert's hydrogen technology is available now.
