At its meeting held on March 29, 2021, St. Catharines City Council approved the following motion:

“WHEREAS the City of St. Catharines has declared a climate emergency; and

WHEREAS conservation areas and wetlands are an intricate part of our biosphere; and

WHEREAS schedule 3 in bill 257 gives the government absolute power to destroy wetlands and conservation areas;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City of St. Catharines call on the Premier of Ontario and the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing to remove schedule 3 from bill 257; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of St. Catharines send correspondence of this motion to all Ontario Municipalities, MPPs, Conservation Authorities and AMO.”

A copy of the motion will also be emailed to Premier Ford, all MPPs, all Ontario municipalities, all Ontario conservation authorities and AMO.
