Human beings require three things for life: Clean water, clean air and food. The Greenbelt contributes to all of these ingredients through source water protection and protection of rivers and streams, protection of prime farm land which needs to be expanded and protection of trees which filter impurities and carbon.

All of these ingredients need expanded protection from more housing, road and industry developments. Expansion of the Greenbelt will provide some of the needed protection.
