I absolutely want to see the greenbelt expanded and made more continuous. I feel the environment is one of the biggest crises we face and we need to start acting accordingly. Profits for developers who donate to political parties need to be removed from the equation.
We also need to preserve the remaining farmland that feeds our cities. If COVID has taught us anything it is how vulnerable we are to globalization pressures and nationalism. the best farmland in Ontario is already mostly paved over. This has to stop.
I find it ironic and depressing that as we speak about expanding the greenbelt the Ontario Government is trying to push through highway 413 which will destroy parts of the greenbelt and adjacent natural areas and rivers and streams.
This is a torturous sort of double speak- we want to expand the greenbelt while destroying it. Smoke and mirrors.
