I am concerned about the expansion of biomass given the pollution given off when burned. I am also concerned about increasing deforestation to sustain demand for wood pellets. Conserving and expanding natural spaces to preserve biodiversity and carbon sequestration is imperative and needs to go hand in hand with solving the climate crisis. We must protect the boreal forest and there is not enough oversight to ensure that areas aren’t cut down to sustain the demand for this type of energy.
