Cancelling the Cap and Trade…

Cancelling the Cap and Trade Agreement without a plan to combat climate change is a terrible idea.

No other ideas in the current PC platform will matter if towns full of people who voted for you are continuously destroyed by storms, flood damage and high winds.

Buck a beer won't matter.

Sex ed repeal won't matter.

Cutting the TO city council won't matter.

No cheap weed in a private shop will matter.

Your party achieved majority status during the hottest summer on record. The storms and havoc that we can foresee during this tenure are not imaginary. This party will visit broken homes and businesses, washed away in by wind and fire. You will see the faces of distraught people who voted for you, who are going to ask for help, and for money. Will you be able to? Is this a party who will turn its back on its constituents and their children? Will you do more then the politicians before you, and post their faces beside yours as you wade through their broken lives for a publicity stunt for the evening news?

What kind of a party do you want to be?

I want you to be great. I want you to educate the public on what you know to be true. Make decisions now that will protect our planet, not just appease those few deniers, or people who feel their money will protect them. If you yourselves are not sure, educate yourselves. Surely people in power should be able to be non-partisan on an issue like this. No government in history will have to face the severe and dangerous climate that you're entering. This party is in a unique position to rise to the challenge to think differently. Do you have what it takes?

Don't be short sighted on this one. It's too important.

The climate change website form Ontario.ca lists many ways individuals can adjust their lifestyles to protect the planet. Surely you realize that the real change comes from government policy. Don't pay lip service. PS - the links on the site are down. Wonderful caption of the mallard though.

Please leave cap and trade in check, and if you despite it that much, have a different plan. But please, protect our planet. Nothing else matters.
