To the current Conservative…

To the current Conservative majority government,

Doing away with cap and trade without public consultation, and with full knowledge of the role that government has to play in leading Ontario away from dependence on fossil fuels and in fighting climate change, is not only wrong but amoral. There is no possible justification for this brazen and foolish act. Please consider acting in the public interest, and in the interest of future generations of Canadians, by enacting legislation and policies that fight climate change in clear, specific, beneficial ways.

The new Ford government seems to have no interest in long-term thinking or thinking beyond short-term and insignificant economic gains for a small number of people. But as a concerned citizen, I beg you to reconsider your position on cap and trade, among other climate-change-fighting initiatives, that you the government has a crucial role to play with.
