On behalf of the members and directors of BPEG, I am submitting our strong opposition to cancelling the Cap and Trade provision enacted by the previous Liberal Government. It is an international agreement to limit the effects of climate change. It has provided many thousands of jobs and is providing multiple benefits to help homeowners, businesses and industry to: number one, conserve energy and cut waste; and number two, replace dirty polluting energy with clean sustainable and affordable and renewable energy projects. There has been a lot of misinformation spread about the cost saving benefits of cutting this international agreement, but there will be many thousands of jobs lost and there will be costly judicial renegotiations necessary. As tax payers we will not support these changes, we owe it to our children and grand children to spare no efforts to try and help limit the tragic effects of climate change, which will cost them their life giving environment, like clean air, clean water and safe, healthy food.
