I am concerned that our government is abandoning the fight against climate change and at the same time is wasting even more tax payers dollars to do it. The recent announcement about going to court over the Federal carbon tax makes no sense just like the dropping of the cap & trade system. It will result in even more money wasted with little prospect of actually succeeding.

The Cap and Trade system in Ontario made sense to me along with the incentives it paid for to encourage people to make their homes more energy efficient. It also encouraged businesses to be more climate friendly. To that end I could support increased prices in some areas. Now that this has ended, the costs to unwind it will be paid by tax payers as well as a carbon tax that will be imposed on the province in the future. Again this will cost the provincial tax payers more. I believe the study on cap and trade determined it would be cheaper for Ontario tax payers to have cap and trade as opposed to the carbon tax. So again here is a decision that does not seem intelligent and panders to those who are ill-informed. On top of that nothing is happening to incrementally help fight climate change. Unfortunately the government was only elected with about 41% of the popular vote (about 24% of those eligible to vote). You should remember you are the government of all the people and the other 76% may not share your priorities. So you should be consulting and making intelligent decisions.
