Dear Minister Clark
,
I oppose the language in Bill 23, the More Homes Built Faster Act, 2022, that will end the use of municipal green standards.

Green building standards push industry forward to build better quality buildings and homes that result in economically competitive communities that are healthier and more sustainable. They are not the cause of the housing crisis.

Without standards to guide development, we risk a race to the bottom in terms of quality of housing for Ontarians, resulting in massive health and economic costs in the long run.
Please remove the following text from the proposed legislation and empower municipalities to implement green standards.

"(2) Subparagraph 2 iv of subsection 114 (5) of the Act is repealed." (City of Toronto Act)
"(2) Subparagraph 2 (d) of subsection 41 (4) of the Act is repealed." (Planning Act)
