I read through the Assessment Work Policy and found two concerning points. The second one being most concerning.
Under the Draft Assessment Work Policy:
Pg 4
“Where the claim holder’s own labour is claimed for assessment work credits, the claim holder’s labour costs must not exceed the costs they would have reasonably paid for a contractor to perform the same work to a maximum of $350 per day.”
This is out of touch with current market prices. The cost of living in Canada has gone up substantially.
Pg 11
Costs and expenses for grass roots prospecting and regional surveys performed on Crown land that is eligible for assessment work credits shall be credited as follows:
* · For all costs and expenses other than labour costs for grass roots prospecting, 50 per cent of the amount expended.
Why are prospectors and why is prospecting being picked on?
Why is prospecting seen as a lower value and costs/expenses rated at 50%? Prospecting is essential to finding future mines and is already endangered. I am grateful you have the double assessment program for labour, but why are you proposing to cut expenses for grassroots prospecting by half?
Please feel free to share my personal contact details with anyone regarding these comments. I would be happy to explain to anyone why prospecting is essential and is the last thing that should be cut back.
