As someone who has yet to own property, has the desire to in the near future, and is aware of the current housing crisis in the GTA, I can understand the desire to build homes in some of the proposed areas of the green belt. That being said, I do not agree with building homes on protected land, land that is home to diverse wildlife and land that makes the GTA what it is. We take pride in the amount of nature that we are able to explore amongst our urban and suburban lifestyles. This land provides us with ways to destress in nature and restore our mental health. This land helps monitor and control our climate as well, and prevents events such as flooding and other natural disasters. I wholly do not support building new homes on this land, and I hope the government is sitting down with a variety of professionals, including an array of environmentalists, not just developers, before making any decisions. Thank you for taking the time to read this message, and I hope you seriously take into consideration the needs of our environment and planet before moving forward.
