When will we have enough, when does it end? When Toronto swallows up all the farmland in southern Ontario?
We don't have a housing supply issue, we have an ownership/vacancy and an affordability issue. The cities are littered with underused, derelict properties that are under no meaningful pressure from the Cities to sell/redevelop. Further, the type of housing that the city allows (single family dwelling McMansions) are horrendous uses of land, for which the costs of services (highways, water mains) are barely covered by property taxes.
I beg the government to think of future generations, and Ontario to show some leadership and force our construction industries to "think harder and develop smarter", rather than consume yet more resources to build economically inefficient infrastructure.
