There are many solutions to the housing crisis that don't involve destroying environmentally sensitive land. I am deeply disapointed by the government's decision to go back on previous promises and proceed with this plan. Global cities such as London support far greater populations in smaller areas by building dense, walkable neighbourhoods. Increasing urban sprawl helps no one except for greedy developers. Why not build townhouses instead of paving over environmentally protected areas for strip malls and parking lots? This proposal is deeply short-sighted, and future generations will have to pay for the government's greed.
