I feel very strongly that this redesignation of the green belt is a misguided policy.

The government specifically promised not to do this. I do not feel there is a mandate to go ahead with this policy. With the increased intensity in climate change related events it is more important than ever to protect already scarce green space, particularly in urban, or semi-urban areas.

IF the housing crisis is so bad that we have to sacrifice parts of the green belt, I trust that they will not be lost to more urban sprawl with single family, detached houses. IF this valuable green space is going to be lost, it ought to be put to maximum use with desperately needed AFFORDABLE housing.

I earnestly hope this policy is amended, or abandoned altogether. Increased density in existing urban areas is surely preferable to forever destroying valuable natural habitat and/or farm lands.
