No.
This is not the solution to any issue other than making money for developers who do not care at all about the people of Ontario or creating affordable housing. The more homes built faster is probably one of the most ill-thought out plans to date. We are not in a housing crisis; we are in an affordable housing crisis. We need high density population rental units in downtown cores. Opening up the greenbelt is both idiotic and a demonstration of the conservative governments blatant lies. Building homes that cost more than $600,000 on protected land is not helping with affordable housing. Building homes in locations with no real public transit that will require Ontarians to spend hundreds of dollars on gas each week to commute is doing absolutely nothing to help Ontarians. Single swelling homes are entirely illogical and just go to show how out of touch with reality this government is. If Millennials have given up on home ownership and have moved in with their parents because they can’t afford to live on their own, where is a downpayment going to come from? And baby boomers are now largely downsizing to condos. Once we build on this land, it is gone. The environmental impact is catastrophic (again, not that this government cares since they’ve also axed conservation authorities).
When is this government going to put people first instead of Doug Ford’s developer friends?
