As a tax paying Ontario…

As a tax paying Ontario resident and an active participant in this community, I vehemently stand against the Cap and Trade Cancellation Act being put forth by the Premier. The Cap and Trade program was introduced for a mere few months and had the opportunity to fund for schooling, transit, and other energy effecient renovation programs which are critical as our world faces massive climate change implications. We need to do everything we can to help curb our greenhouse gas emissions. Targets set by governments are not effective enough to drive the transformative change we need to save ourselves. Cap and Trade programs are proven to be an effective means to reduce emissions. All the other modern, intelligent cities in the world are taking an active part in being a part of the carbon market. Ontario's exit from this strategy will only signal to the world that we are not a true international player and respectable teammate who is taking an active stance in fighting climate change. Cap and trade is good for schools, good for families, good for businesses and good for the environment. I plead you to please please re-consider the revoking of the Cap and Trade Program.
