I grew up in rural ontario, I have kayaked bronte creek from start to finish. I have rode my bike for hours and hours a day across the GTA on farmland road.
My income and my wifes income puts me in the upper bracket of Ontario, yet I cannot afford a home, I live in a tiny, 400 sq ft apartment, I have no storage nowhere to put anything. I had to give up my bike, I had to give up my dog, I had to give up many luxuries in life for what reason?
I can barely afford any home in Ontario at $155,000 family income, I would have to drop my sports, my restaurants, my travel plans, my retirement funding and countless other things that provide me with joy in life if I am to save and be able to afford a basic home in the outskirts of the GTA.
This isn't fair, this is not right, the is not the Canada I envisioned.
For the first time in my life I am siding with a policy that goes against my very principles, simply because my quality of life has significantly declined due to the fact that I have no access to a place to raise a family and start a new.
It is heartbreaking, but I support the plans to start developing the greenbelt.
