Build UP, NOT OUT, urban density rather than urban sprawl. That has been the thing that Hamiltonians have been asking for. We literally voted against the previous 1,310 hectares the city proposed in its "ambitious density", and now the province is suggesting an even larger 2,200 hectares, do we not live in a democracy anymore?

The government’s own Housing Affordability Task Force created a report (https://files.ontario.ca/mmah-housing-affordability-task-force-report-e… page 10) that stated much the same: “A shortage of land isn’t the cause of the problem,” “Land is available, both inside the existing built-up areas and on undeveloped land outside greenbelts.”

The government should be adjusting / creating policies so that we build up the city without taking green belt land, start creating apartment buildings, don't pave over farmland with hundreds of soulless, cookie cutter townhouses, out in the middle of nowhere. These new neighborhoods do not even contain any stores or offices, they are just feeder neighborhoods for an already overwhelmed inner city infrastructure. They will clog our streets and highways, increase commute times, pollution, and put strain on our electrical and water grids.
