I am against any changes to the greenbelt lands as currently designated. This issue is simply one of being lied to. Premier Ford promised not to touch the greenbelt lands in 2018. Minister Steve Clark has admitted that this decision is a flip-flop from his stance when he said to the Toronto Star in 2021 that "we're not going to entertain any conversations about a land swap".
When does the deceit and the lying and the falsehoods stop. Is it okay to allow anything to be said, even on record, just to get elected and then to turn around and do whatever they want after the fact.
This issue is an important one for the environmental future of the province, our country and the world. If all politicians simply act this way and are allowed to get away with it, then there is simply no hope for our province/country/world given the environmental crises facing us. How do I explain to my daughter that the Premier of our province, a Minister responsible and other politicians can lie with impunity while negatively impacting our environment for developer profits.
There are many other options available long before any encroachment becomes unavoidable to the greenbelt lands as designated.
