The Ford government needs to keep their
promises and show they stand behind their words. Do not develop the green belt or conservation areas.

Please help to save our children, the planet and protect the environment. A healthy society that is fiscally responsible depends upon addressing all of the social determinants of health. We need green spaces for active living and to reduce greenhouse gases. If the Ford government develops the green belt, conservation areas and continues urban sprawl, this will result in higher healthcare costs and higher taxes. Our healthcare system is already under incredible strain and is close to breaking.

Now’s the time to build within the existing city. Investing within our current urban boundary preserves surrounding farmland, lowers greenhouse gas emissions, and ensures our tax dollars are used to maintain existing infrastructure. By building on under-utilized land within the city limits, we can create more affordable, walkable, bikeable and less car-dependent neighbourhoods. This promotes healthier, more active lifestyles. Developing within our existing city limits supports small, local businesses, vibrant neighbourhoods and healthier citizens – for today and decades to come. Please stop the development of the green belt, conservation areas and repeal bill 23.
