The Greenbelt should remain permanently protected! You already know why. Ontario has other options to build housing. The issue is not space, Ontario is huge. Ontario should not be catering to the construction and development industries' bribes.. sorry, "lobbying". Removing the protection of the Greenbelt and introducing a large area of land available to developers will not solve housing affordability, it will just give developers cheap land to sell homes for near millions a piece while removing much needed green space and important watershed protection. There are alternatives. We are the 2nd largest country in the world, we have a huge forestry industry that needs tapping into. That doesn't necessarily mean more logging, just give priority and incentives to domestic sales. We need to make building more affordable. Relax permitting and inspections to allow for easy building of nontraditional homes such as modular homes, tiny houses and guest houses on existing properties. Invest in opening more mobile trailer parks. Build vertically and invest in large affordable apartment buildings.
