I do not support the use of Green Belt lands for the sake of housing development as outlined in this proposal.
There are surely other options available to the current government to re-zone already developed lands or convert existing buildings/structures for multi-use or residential housing.
The GTA currently has thousands of square feet of vacant commercial space that could be re-zoned for residential purposes.
Opening up the Green Belt to land developers will not result in the types of housing that people currently need. These corporations will only seek to maximize profitability and will no doubt end up using this lands to build single family detached homes.
This province is struggling through an affordable housing crisis, and destroying conservation lands to build more single family homes is not a solution.
