I strongly object to the cancellation of the Cap and Trade program by the current Ontario government. This program was already up and running and providing not only reduced carbon emissions but revenue to pay for other incentives to reduce emissions. The cancellation of this program as well as the other incentives, without a comparable climate change plan, is incredibly irresponsible. It shows a complete lack of concern or far-sightedness for future generations, not to mention the current citizens of Ontario. Climate change is happening now, it is causing extreme and unusual weather events, and costing insurance companies millions of dollars in claims. For this government to drag its feet and try to stop a federal carbon tax is like a slap in the face to all Ontarians who will have to deal with the consequences of inaction. Please retain the cap and trade system as set up.
