As someone born in Ontario, I grew up with the belief that both the provincial and federal government had the backs of its people and would not go back on their word to protect Canada's natural beauty. With every law, bill and proposal Doug Ford and his party bring into being, I have seen the fabric of this province unwind to leave behind a trail of loose threads and empty gestures. The Premier of Ontario, someone who is supposed to defend the needs and wants of those he serves, has gone as far as to threaten the livelihoods of our education workers and labor unions. And in the midst of all this, he is attempting to break up the Greenbelt for sheer economic gain. The banks are predicting rough times for the future here in Canada, and every political move that this Progressive Conservative party takes give me every indication that my future in this province is questionable. I am ashamed at what Ontario has become. Utterly ashamed.
