The Greenbelt is a precious resource and includes valuable farmland which makes us less dependant on food imports. Once this land is developed it is gone forever. Housing is important but urban sprawl increases the head for long stressful commutes and these developments will not be affordable housing which is what is needed most. Urban intensification is the way to increase affordable housing. Homes where the jobs are.
